Something something, the brother of the girl from Cults, something context, something something.
Now that's out of the way let's talk about how Guards should be firmly placed on your 2013 music radar. Moving slowly, Guards have released an EP and a few singles, toured the country, and have been teasing fans for a year now with the promise of a new LP. The wait is over and on February 5th, 2013, Guards will finally step out with the full length LP, In Guards We Trust.
The magic of Guards all starts with the bravado of frontman Richie Follin, who attacks each song with a vocal ease that just seems to elevate even the simplest moments of their songs. The rest of the band balances Follin by being one of the tightest and imaginative backing groups out there today. These are not experimental songs, the structures are familiar, but in the hands of Guards, every tune feels pushed to a next level of emotion, with a passionate rival of songwriting today being hard to find. Guards are one of those bands that I can recommend to any music fan regardless of taste and know that they will melt into their blissful melodies. Check out these new songs below and get ready to share them with everyone you know.
