Track of the Day: Mikal Cronin - "Shout It Out"

It's not a stretch to say that the blogosphere has a content problem.  Music blogs are becoming worse and worse.  If you follow more than one, it becomes an echo chamber with parroting, repetitiveness, and a stale outlook which makes is unusually susceptible to trends, whims, and any time that Vampire Weekend does something.  This is why I delay delay delay before clicking on anything.  I don't want it to get lost in the hype, in the labyrinthian echo chamber of music blogs.  My tactic paid off this morning with Mikal Cronin's blissful "Shout It Out."

Mikal's second solo record, MCII, will be released in May via Merge and if this track is any indication its going to be a raucous one.  Beginning where so many bands seem to be these days with a little sun-blasted jangily 60s sound, "Shout It Out" unleashes the beast on a distortion-filled chorus.  It's a little bit of angst, a little bit of hope, really everything besides a sailor that you could want in a song.

  1. I was a big fan of his 2011 release. I think the reissue of 'Reverse Shark Attack' will help give Cronin proper exposure and a stage for 'MCII'. Got to love the disciples of Segall bloom.
