Paco de Lucia, the famed flamenco guitarist, passed away today at the age of 66. He was playing with his children on the beach in Mexico when he suffered a heart attack. Not only was Paco de Lucia an innovator, but his guitar work has become synonymous with the flamenco music as he both revolutionized and epitomized the style. He was a legend, an icon, and will be greatly missed. If you don't know Paco de Lucia's work, I suggest listening to the work that he did with fellow uber-guitarist John McLaughlin, for some of the most riveting, demanding, and insatiable guitar music you'll ever hear.
