This week's releases feature 5 sonic innovators, including the return of Four Tet; new ones from Ibeyai and Kamasi Washington; two great Catalan artists, beGun (this week's Off the Radar selection) and Joana Serrat; and Jessica Lea Mayfield bringing one of the most intensely personal albums of the year with Sorry is Gone.
First brought to us by Big Thief, meet Twain, a music-maker that's been making his way across the internet the past month. His release Rare Feeling is out October 20 via our friends at Keeled Scales. "Solar Pilgrim" begins with melodic, meandering guitar riff before Mt. Davidson's quavering voice kicks in narrating a daydream. The build of the song follows a somnambulist's route--before you know it, percussion has kicked in, castanets, the gentle undertone of keys--as an entire dreamscape builds its way from the ground around us.
