I've been pretty swamped and with the exception of Deerhunter's gorgeous Halcyon Digest being on repeat, there hasn't been that much out there that's enlivened me. But today brought a wonderful surprise, a new track by WLFY fav Aqueduct.
Some 8 years ago, as an undergrad, I came upon Aqueduct, b/c a guy in my writing class, Matt Nader was in the band. Pretty soon, Aqueduct took over the Tulsa music scene with synths and lyrics that made the panties drop. Since then, Dave Terry (Aqueduct's primary songwriter, etc) moved to Seattle, got signed to Barsuk and released two albums. "Pass the Point" isn't a return as much as it is mining down into what made Aqueduct great -- piano driven pop at once sophisticated and down-to-earth. The 'duct is on tour, check 'em out...
