The Ten Best Films of 2000-2009

ZACH THAT:

I know we're a music blog but my education/background is film and a decade only comes around every blue moon (or ten years I think). Here are what I consider to be the best films of the past decade:

10.) Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Shane Black 2005)

09.) Almost Famous (Cameron Crowe 2000)

08.) Oldboy (Chan-wook Park 2003)

07.) State And Main (David Mamet 2000)

06.) Adaptation (Spike Jonze 2002)

05.) Mulholland Drive (David Lynch 2001)

04.) City Of God (Meirelles & Lund 2002)

03.) The Royal Tenenbaums (Wes Anderson 2001)

02.) You Can Count On Me (Kenneth Lonergan 2000)

01.) There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson 2008)

Good list with the exception of Almost Famous, which I hate with a passion. And though I don't normally want to answer a question like this, once I had to name my favorite movie of all time for a job application, and Royal Tenenbaums was my answer. So huzzah!

The fact that You Can Count on Me is on here is proof that we are best friends for ever.

Fine with everything but "Mullhullond Drive", the film I hate more than any other film or piece of art, ever. I will slap David Lynch across the face for that someday...

This is a great list - not sure that I would change very much at all, if anything. Also - would any other decade's top ten list feature zero best picture winners?

Top ten for the whole decade?
how many movies have you seen???

I've just realized my previous comment could sound rude.
it's just I'm very surprised by this selection... I've seen movies this year alone that were much better than "royal tenenbaums" or "there will be blood" i.e "let the right one in" or "the wrestler".
but in the end, I guess it's very difficult to narrow down a decade of cinema with a "top ten film list" and it's all very subjective too.
