I gotta say, I know nothing about Lady Gaga beyond the provocateur image she's taken to the furthest extreme. But, this video makes me shiver. What incredible songwriting. It's too bad that sometimes being batshit crazy and image overrides what a person is really capable of. There's not an inch of superfluousness in these songs.

Really? I mean, they're fine, but nothing special. Now, what she's done as Gaga is original and funny and entertaining. She knows what she's doing, she's a smart woman, and she's having a great time. What more can you ask?
I don't know. I find Lady Gaga's music to be annoyance pop. Her voice is smashed in post-production, the beats are thoughtless, and her persona is like a five year old trying to get attention. I've never liked Gaga and was taken aback by this video...the girl has some real talent. To me Gaga is a gimmick wrapped in diamond wrapping paper...while these videos show that if she chose a lesser fame, she could produce some respectable music. Just my take.
If anything, this vid proves that she does know what she's doing. But really, is it original, Arthur? It's practically a 21st century Madonna rip off with a better sense of humor. I would point you right to the "Bad Romance" video. As for the music, well, this seems to me way better than the rehashed beats and gay club disco. Cake with too much frosting.
The video proves she's a musician, but moreso she's an entertainer. I don't think she ever tried to be anything else.
Lady Gaga's done what Britney, Madonna and other pop superstars have done; made themselves into a product, which is marketed, bought and sold. This is how she makes her living, and unlike the other named musicians, she has the musical talent to back up her deranged music personality. I mean, the woman went to Tisch at aged 17.
Zach, why do you make mindless beats sound like it's such a travesty when I'm pretty sure that's her goal?
when did entertainer and musician become a dichotomy?
I think Bad Romance is one of the best videos I've seen in a very long time--it's an amalgam of McQueen, Raushcenberg, Annie Lennox, & some Amy Winehouse.
Why can't pop be respectable music?
She's a smart woman & knows what she's doing. It's a show, an art spectacle, more Warhol than Britney.
What I mean to say is, she's in on it--she knows. & that makes it all the better.
