Akudama

HANK ALTOGETHER: Akudama (ah-koo-da-ma) is a band from Brooklyn, NYC, NY, USA. I got a chance to see them a couple weeks ago at the Nachbar in Germantown, KY and was pretty blown away. It's great to see a live band that is really tight musically. Even while playing in a pretty small (but hip) bar. It's not easy to classify their musical sound. On the pretty stellar Johnny Appleseed EP I picked up they dabble in everything from 50s rock to songs that sound like they could be heard in your grandparents retirement condo in Pensacola. If only their condo place was that cool. It's all delivered with a brash demeanor, though with tongue firmly implanted in their cheek. "Night Club" is def. a standout for me.
